Most people believe common ground exists between the West and the Islamic world despite current global tensions, a BBC World Service poll suggests. “Most people feel this is about political power and interests, not religion and culture,” said Doug Miller, president of polling company Globescan. Who’s funding global warming?

Dallas-based utility company TXU are planning to build 11 new coal-fired power plants. Among others, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup are funding them, with support from Texas Governor Rick Perry (who benefits from TXU’s campaign contributions).
